
William Olotch
Chairman
Mr Olotch’s fulltime working life has mainly been in the insurance industry. His first employment was with Hogg Robinson and Collinhood (K) Ltd in 1971, which was one of the then leading insurance brokers in the country. He had joined the company, as a management trainee, soon after graduating from the University of Dar-es-Salaam, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Degree, in Economics and Business. He later left the company at the end of 1974 and joined Kenya Reinsurance Corporation as an assistant manager.
During his service at Kenya Re, he earned various promotions the highest being General Manager incharge of International business. (1974 -1993). Between 1996 -1990, he was seconded to African Reinsurance Corporations as Chief Underwriter. He returned to Kenya Re at the end of the tour and continued holding the position of General Manager International Business.
In 1993 he was offered the position of Managing Director at Pan Africa Insurance Co. Ltd, which position he held until 2001, when the company was taken over by a South African investor (African Life). Soon thereafter he was appointed managing Director at First Assurance Co. Ltd in 1993. while working at Pan African Insurance Co. Ltd he was also appointed member of the Board of Trustees at the College of Insurance and Chairman of Education Committee. He moved to the College of Insurance on a full-time basis in 2002 as the Director and Chief Executive officer (CEO), which position he held until 2006, when he left to pursue other interests.
Mr. Olotch while working in various organizations in addition, held non-executive directorships in other institutions such as;
1. WAICA Re (2019 -2022),
2. Insurance Appeals Tribunal (member) 2011-2013,
3. Director Mercantile Insurance Company Ltd (2009-2014)
4. Board member and Vice –Chairman the Association of Kenya Insurers,
(1999 -2002)
He has also been a Director of the following Companies: Reliance Insurance Co. Ltd, East Africa Reinsurance Co. Ltd, Nairobi Stock Exchange and Member –Retirement Benefits Appeals Tribunal among others.
